This innovative holiday concept invites you to engage with Janie’s Originals and Country House Craft Studio.
You can opt to attend our two-day retreat, or enhance your experience by adding a leisurely three-night stay leading up to our Bookbinding weekend. By adding the Ruby package for your booking, you’ll join a small group of like-minded crafters for self-guided crafting*, foster relaxed friendships, and explore the local area. Throughout your stay, you’ll have exclusive access to Hurds Hill House and its beautiful grounds.If you choose to include the Ruby package, you’ll enjoy a laid-back dining experience featuring continental breakfast, a sandwich or picnic lunch, and a buffet dinner each day. The Gold and Sparkle package offers a more indulgent option with a luxurious dining experience of three-course dinners, sharing platter lunches, and additional breakfast selections.With access to the craft studio and house during your holiday, you’ll have ample time to indulge in both self-guided and group crafting*. You might also decide to visit local attractions with your provided picnic, whether solo or alongside fellow retreat participants.*Mini workshops and supplies will be available at an additional cost.

Craft and Bookbinding holiday. Deposit listing.
The Retreat will be held on 17th-23rd August 2026 and will be packed full of fun and creative friendships. You will create a variety of creative book projects with Janie over the retreat weekend.
The retreat will be held at Country House Craft Studio, Hurds Hill, Langport, Somerset, TA10 0ND.
Teaching sessions will run from 10am-5pm Friday and Saturday with an hour for lunch and additional refreshment breaks.
There will be a stunning shared platter lunch both days.
If you choose the residential package, you will get breakfast, lunch, tea/coffee and 3 course dinner all included in the price.
If you choose non-residential your package will include lunch, refreshments and tea/ coffee included in the price.
The price includes all materials needed, full tuition, and use of required tools. There will be free parking on site.
The Ruby Package is in addition to your chosen retreat package and is not a standalone option. If you choose to include the Ruby package, you’ll enjoy a laid-back dining experience featuring continental breakfast, a sandwich or picnic lunch, and a buffet dinner each day.
We will have the whole country house to ourselves for the full weekend. There are plenty of little nooks to sit peacefully and unwind, including three libraries! There are fantastic views and a lovely walk around the garden. The house has an eclectic feel that will get your imagination flowing.
The retreat has disabled access, including 1 ground floor bedroom with disabled access and a wet room. If you require any specific support, please inform us before booking.
We will ask before the retreat if you have any dietary requirements to ensure we have enough choice to suit everybody’s needs.
Your booking is secured with a £50pp deposit, followed by arranged payment to clear the total balance by July 31st.
